The holiday weekend was off to a rough start for some online gamers. Parts of gaming platform PlayStation network experienced brief outages Friday morning, the company's website reported.
Users may have had difficulty launching online features of games and applications, or signing in or creating an account, according to Sony's PlayStation status page.
The outage, which began at 10:24 a.m. EST and was ongoing until 11:17 a.m., also affected video and music content, PlayStation store purchases and PlayStation Vue services, much to the frustration of gamers on Twitter. PlayStation music was still experiencing issues after 11:17 a.m., the website said.
The PlayStation store includes several Black Friday flash sales, such as steep discounts on popular gaming packages like "Assassin's Creed," "Metal Gear Solid" and "Call of Duty Black Ops III."
Sony could not immediately be reached for comment on the cause of the outage, but said on its website that engineers were working to fix the problem.
